How Much Influence Does Israel Have Over U.S. Elected Officials?

Bernie Sanders’ 2020 national campaign director Analilia Mejia beat AIPAC-backed candidate Tom Malinowski in NJ’s recent special election

As mid-term season ramps up, important primary races are underway in Texas and Illinois. The midterm elections will potentially reshape the U.S. Congress, making it critical to understand how important the outcomes are for Israel and its powerful slate of U.S. lobbying groups.

“We expect to be involved in dozens of races both in primaries and general elections this cycle,” said Patrick Dorton, a spokesman for AIPAC’s affiliated super PAC, the United Democracy Project (UDP).

According to Track AIPAC, there are currently only 21 members of U.S. Congress who have never accepted money from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC, the largest pro-Israel PAC in the US) or other pro-Israel lobby groups. The remaining 514 sitting members have all accepted varying amounts of fundraising money from pro-Israel lobbyists.

With the Illinois primary just two days away, AIPAC has spent more than $1.9 million on ads to replace retiring Rep. Danny Davis with Melissa Conyears-Ervin, the city treasurer of Chicago. She faces over a dozen other candidates in the upcoming primary. And IL Sen. Dick Durbin is retiring after more than 30 years in office, with three top Democratic candidates vying for his seat.

Durbin received more than $2.7 million in pro-Israel donations over his decades in office. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, who accepted more than $1.7 million in pro-Israel donations, is vying for his seat along with Rep. Robin Kelly, the recipient of just over $368,000 from Israeli lobbies and Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton, who has received just over $248,000.

U.S. Democratic Reps. Jan Schakowsky and Jesus “Chuy” Garcia are also retiring. Schakowsky has received more than $2.5 billion from Israeli lobbyists while Garcia hasn’t received any and rejects AIPAC. Dozens of Democrats are vying for those seats, with AIPAC playing an increasingly bigger role in candidates’ platforms.

Schakowsky, once a staunch supporter of Israel, has increasingly become critical of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the war in Gaza and recently withdrew her support of Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller to succeed her. Miller has pulled in more than $3.3 million in AIPAC-related donations. “Illinois deserves leaders who put voters first, not AIPAC or out-of-state Trump donors,” said Schakowsky. She endorsed Evanston Mayor Daniel Bliss instead, who has received just over $288,000 in pro-Israel funding.

The Texas Senate primaries have yielded tight races for Democrats and Republicans alike, with AIPAC once again playing a key role. James Talarico, who received just over $23,000 from pro-Israel interests, will face an as yet to be determined Republican challenger. Incumbent Sen. John Cornyn, who has accepted more than $2 million from AIPAC and other Israeli interests, is being challenged by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who received just over $53,000 from Israeli lobbyists.

The Republican primary was so close that the two candidates will face a runoff on May 26. Paxton’s success puts President Donald Trump in a sticky position. Trump himself has received more than $230 million from Israeli groups and it was expected he would endorse Israel’s candidate, Cornyn. But Paxton has gained traction within the MAGA movement, and Trump risks alienating his voters by endorsing Cornyn. Talarico’s popularity has been rising with some predicting he may turn one of Texas’s Senate seats blue for the first time in 33 years.

AIPAC and its offshoots began to ramp up spending during the 2022 midterms, shelling out more than $221 million between December of 2021 and January of 2026.

Their strategy has not always paid off though, as was the case in the recent Democratic primary special election in New Jersey. Israeli lobbyists spent more than $378,000 pushing former Rep. Tom Malinowski for a House seat. He was defeated by progressive candidate Analilia Mejia, who has been openly critical of Israel.

  1. Felt like the post had been edited rather than just drafted and published, and a stop at rankclimb suggested the same care across the site, the difference between edited and unedited content is enormous for the reader and this site has clearly invested in the editing pass that most blogs skip entirely which really does show up.

  2. Solid recommendation from me to anyone working in the area, the perspective here is grounded, and a look at changeyourfuture adds even more useful angles, the kind of site that becomes a reference rather than just a one time read which is a higher bar than most blogs ever reach today on the modern web.

  3. Reading this prompted me to dig into a related topic later, and a stop at besttrendstore provided some of the starting points for that follow up reading, content that triggers further exploration rather than satisfying curiosity completely is content with real generative energy and this site has plenty of that energy throughout it.

  4. Genuinely glad I clicked through to read this rather than skipping past, and a stop at reachhighergoals confirmed I should keep clicking through to more pages here, the kind of resource that justifies its place in my browser history rather than feeling like wasted time which is the highest compliment I offer any site online today.

  5. Bookmark folder reorganised slightly to make this site easier to find, and a look at leaddrift earned the same accessibility upgrade, the small organisational moves I make for sites I expect to return to often are themselves a signal of how much I trust them and this site triggered those moves naturally.

  6. Pass this along to anyone you know dealing with similar questions, the answers here are clear, and a stop at simplebuyoutlet adds even more useful material, this is the kind of resource that deserves to circulate widely rather than getting lost in the constant churn of new content online that buries good work daily.

  7. Decided to write a short note to the author if there is contact info anywhere, and a stop at boxrise extended that intention, the urge to thank the writer directly is a strong signal of content quality and this site has triggered that urge in me today which is a fairly rare event for my reading.

  8. A piece that did not try to be timeless and ended up reading as durable anyway, and a look at rankcove extended that durable feel, content that stays useful past its publication date without straining for permanence is content that ages well and this site has the kind of evergreen quality that I value highly today.

  9. Honest take is that I will probably forget most of what I read online today but this post is one I will remember, and a stop at ranktrail kept that same memorable quality going, certain writing leaves a residue in the mind in a way most content simply does not manage.

  10. During my exploration of positive and motivational web platforms, I noticed a site that feels organized and simple, and Beginnings Bright focus hub delivers a smooth browsing experience overall – The layout is structured well, content is easy to read, and users can navigate without confusion or clutter.

  11. Generally I bookmark sparingly to avoid building up a bookmark graveyard but this one earned a permanent slot, and a stop at trendycollectionhub extended that permanence designation, the few sites I keep permanent bookmarks for are sites I expect to use repeatedly and this one has clearly cleared that expectation bar today.

  12. Liked that the post left some questions open rather than pretending to settle everything, and a stop at linkmagnet continued that intellectual honesty, content that respects the limits of its own claims is more trustworthy than content that overreaches and this site has clearly figured out which positions it can defend confidently.

  13. Closed the tab with a small sense of finality rather than the usual rushed exit, and a stop at seoslate produced the same considered closing, when reading ends with deliberate satisfaction rather than impatient skip you know the time was well spent and this site is producing those satisfying endings consistently across what I read.

  14. Worth a slow read rather than the fast scan I usually default to, and a look at seoladder earned the same slower pace from me, content that resets my reading speed downward is content with substance worth absorbing and this site has produced that effect on me multiple times now over the last week here.

  15. Reading this in segments because the day was busy, and the post survived the fragmented attention well, and a stop at styleforless held up similarly under interrupted reading, content that can withstand modern distracted reading patterns rather than requiring a perfect block of focused time is increasingly the kind I prefer.

  16. Top notch writing, every paragraph carries weight and nothing feels like filler, and a stop at adglide reflected that same care, a rare thing on the open web these days where most pages exist for clicks rather than actual reader value or anything close to that which is honestly a real shame.

  17. Started reading expecting to disagree and ended mostly nodding along, and a look at seogain continued the pattern, content that wins agreement through evidence and reasoning rather than rhetorical force is the kind that actually shifts minds and this site clearly knows how to do that across what I have read so far.

  18. Thanks for putting in the work to make this approachable, plenty of sites cover the same ground but most do it badly, and a quick visit to findbetteropportunities confirmed this one stands apart, simple language and useful examples without anyone trying to sell me anything along the way which I really appreciated.

  19. I really like the calm tone here, it does not push anything on the reader, and after I went through buyrise I felt the same way, just steady useful content laid out without drama, which is exactly what someone trying to learn something quickly needs to find rather than aggressive marketing.

  20. Новостной портал https://press-center.news с актуальными событиями из мира политики, экономики, технологий, общества и культуры. Оперативные новости, аналитические материалы, интервью, репортажи и мнения экспертов. Следите за важными событиями в стране и мире в удобном формате.

  21. Reading more of the archives is now on my plan for the weekend, and a stop at starttodaymoveforward confirmed the archive worth the time, the rare archive worth a dedicated reading session rather than just casual sampling is the rare archive of serious work and this site has clearly produced enough of that work to warrant the deeper exploration.

  22. While analyzing ecommerce websites, I came across a platform that emphasizes readability and structure, and Cloud Spire product marketplace delivers stable performance overall – Everything is arranged neatly, making it easy for users to browse and read content without distractions or clutter affecting the experience.

  23. Now noticing that the post benefited from being neither too short nor too long for its content, and a look at seopush continued that calibration of length, sites that match length to content rather than padding to hit some target are sites that respect both their material and their readers and this site does both.

  24. While casually checking different online shopping pages earlier today, I came across cleanly arranged marketplace, and I appreciated how the clean design and organized categories made browsing simple and easy for all visitors.

  25. Easy to recommend, the content speaks for itself without needing additional praise from me, and a stop at createbettertomorrow only adds more reasons to send people this way, the kind of generous resource that benefits its readers without demanding anything in return is increasingly rare and worth recognising clearly today across the broader open internet.

  26. Bookmark added with a small mental note that this is a site to keep, and a look at explorewhatspossible reinforced the keep status, the verb keep rather than visit captures something about how I think about this kind of site and it is a higher tier of relationship than I have with most places online today.

  27. Useful read, especially because the writer did not assume too much background from the reader, and a quick look at findbetteropportunities continued in the same way, a thoughtful site that meets people where they are which is something the modern web could use a lot more of for both casual and serious readers.

  28. Useful read, especially because the writer did not assume too much background from the reader, and a quick look at rankfoundry continued in the same way, a thoughtful site that meets people where they are which is something the modern web could use a lot more of for both casual and serious readers.

  29. Once I had read three posts the editorial pattern was clear, and a look at dailyvalueoutlet confirmed the pattern from a fourth angle, sites where the underlying approach reveals itself through accumulated reading rather than being announced are sites with real depth and this one has that quality clearly visible across multiple pieces consistently.

  30. Skipped a meeting reminder to finish the post, and a stop at seoladder held me past another reminder, when content beats meetings the writer is doing something extraordinary because meetings have institutional support behind them and yet good writing can still occasionally win that competition for attention which I find heartening today.

  31. Liked the balance between depth and brevity, never too shallow and never too long, and a stop at adglide kept the same balance going across the rest of the site, this is one of the harder skills in writing and the team here clearly has it figured out very well indeed across every page.

  32. Definitely a recommend from me, anyone curious about the topic should check this out, and a look at rankvista adds even more reason for that, the depth and quality combine to make this site one I will be pointing people toward whenever similar conversations come up over the months ahead at work or socially.

  33. During a casual search for websites sharing shopping ideas and organized browsing opportunities, I came across online savings reference – The design felt easy to understand, the featured sections appeared neatly arranged, and the smooth navigation style helped create a comfortable browsing session for regular online visitors.

  34. Took something from this I did not expect to find, and a stop at linkmotion added another unexpected useful piece, content that exceeds expectations rather than just meeting them is the kind that builds enthusiasm and earns repeat visits without any explicit ask from the writer or platform behind the work being read.

  35. Started reading expecting to disagree and ended mostly nodding along, and a look at seogain continued the pattern, content that wins agreement through evidence and reasoning rather than rhetorical force is the kind that actually shifts minds and this site clearly knows how to do that across what I have read so far.

  36. Thanks for a post that does not try to be funny when it is not the moment for it, and a stop at trendypicksstore maintained the same appropriate seriousness, knowing when humour helps and when it just signals desperation for engagement is a sign of editorial maturity that many blogs have not developed yet.

  37. Really appreciate that the writer did not stretch the post to hit some target word count, the points end when they are made, and a stop at buywave reflected the same discipline, brevity is generosity in disguise and this site has clearly figured that out far better than most blog operations have.

  38. Closed it feeling slightly more competent in the topic than I started, and a stop at fashionmarketplace reinforced that competence boost, real learning is rare in casual online reading but it does happen sometimes and this site managed to make it happen for me today which is genuinely worth pausing to acknowledge.

  39. Probably one of the more reliable sources I have found for this kind of careful coverage, and a look at linkchart reinforced the reliability, the small group of sources I would describe as reliable for a given topic is curated carefully and this site has earned a place in that small group through consistent performance.

  40. A piece that did not lean on the writer credentials or institutional backing, and a look at leadcipher maintained the same focus on substance, content that earns trust through quality rather than through name dropping is the kind I find most persuasive and this site is clearly playing on the substance side of that distinction.

  41. Reading this with a notebook open turned out to be the right move, and a stop at adcrest added more material to the notes, content that justifies active note taking from a passive reader is content with real informational density and this site is producing notes worthy material at a high rate consistently.

  42. Appreciated that the writer trusted the reader to follow along without constant restating of earlier points, and a look at rankfuel continued that respect for the reader, treating an audience as capable adults rather than as people to be hand held through every paragraph is something I notice and value highly across the open internet today.

  43. Now thinking about how to apply some of this to a project I have been planning, and a look at discoverandbuy added more material for the planning, content that connects to my actual creative work rather than just being interesting in the abstract is the kind that earns priority placement in my reading rotation consistently going forward.

  44. Came across this through a roundabout path and now it is on my regular rotation, and a stop at ranklane sealed that decision, the open web still produces serendipitous discoveries when you let the citations and references guide you rather than relying purely on algorithmic feeds for new content recommendations always.
